A D.C. police officer accused using excessive force in 2011 was convicted of simple assault Wednesday.
A judge found officer Clinton Turner, 42, guilty of simple assault, the Washington Post reports.
Authorities say Turner assaulted an employee at the Downtown Locker Room store in Northeast D.C. because the employee made a sarcastic remark at the officer.
Turner is scheduled to be sentenced on Nov. 1. The offence carries a maximum 180 day jail sentence.
