Noose found at middle school in Md.; police release photos of 2 teen boys

Noose found at Crofton Middle School, police release photos of 2 suspects (Anne Arundel County Police Department)

A noose was found hanging from a light fixture at Crofton Middle School Thursday morning and police released photos of two teenage boys possibly linked to the incident.

The two teen boys were caught on school grounds on the night of May 10. One of the teens was wearing a sweatshirt and the other wearing a baseball cap.

Early Friday morning, a police officer was in the parking lot of Crofton Middle school monitoring the campus, and additional officers were at other schools in the area.

Police say they're not sure how the teens were able to obtain the noose.

A note from the principal of Crofton Middle School was sent out to the homes of parents and students stating in part "this incident is disturbing on so many levels and we cannot ignore the intolerant message that this act conveys."

Anne Arundel County Police said officers responded to a report from a school administrator saying a teacher had seen a noose hanging from an exterior light fixture before 11 a.m. Thursday. A school custodian reportedly removed the noose immediately.

During an investigation, detectives recovered school surveillance footage showing two teens who had somehow gained access to the roof of the building and placed the noose on the light fixture.

Anne Arundel County Police is asking the public if they can identify the teens to contact 410-222-8772.
