      Nobel Prize in chemistry goes to Maryland man

      STOCKHOLM (AP) - Two Americans have won this year's Nobel Prize in chemistry. The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences says Robert Lefkowitz and Brian Kobilka are being recognized for their studies of proteins that let body cells respond to signals from the outside.

      Robert Lefkowitz is an American physician-scientist best known for his work with G protein-coupled receptors.

      Lefkowitz is a research and investigator with the Howard Hughes Medical Institute which Is Head Quartered in Chevy Chase, MD.
