A pair of funds have been set up to financially assist the victims of Monday's mass shooting at the Washington Navy Yard.
The Community Foundation for the National Capital Region has set up both the Navy Yard Relief Fund and the Safer Communities Fund in response to the shooting, which claimed the lives of 12 victims and injured several more.
Officials say that the Navy Yard Relief Fund will provide support for the families of victims killed and injured in the shooting. 100 percent of the contributions to this fund will go directly to the families and victims.
The Safer Communities Fund is aimed to provide long-term support toward batting violence in the D.C. area. It will provide funds to nonprofit agencies in the area that offer mental health services and work to reduce gun violence.
