      National Park Service gives venison to food bank

      About 600{}pounds of ground venison was donated to the D.C. Central Kitchen to help feed the hungry, WTOP reports.{}The non-profit organization prepares meals for homeless shelters and other organizations serving low-income city residents.

      The National Park Service donated the{}meat from a hunt in Rock Creek Park meant to control the white-tailed deer population.

      "We'll be using the meat to prepare a hearty venison and black bean chili," the D.C. Central Kitchen posted on their Facebook page.

      Another deer hunt is likely to take place in the fall.
