The National Institutes of Health has been named the top place in America for people over the age of 50.

In its yearly ranking of the top 50 places for workers over 50, the AARP says that the Bethesda-based government agency offers a variety of benefits and programs that specifically appeal to members of the age group, including financial planning, flex time and regular events for retired workers.

The AARP says that nearly half of the workforce at NIH is already over 50 years old. The agency was also included on the list in 2008, 2009 and 2011.

Several other employers in the region made the list, including Bon Secours Virginia (#8), George Mason University (#13), the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (#14), Virginia Commonwealth University (#17), the Veterans Health Administration (#25), and American University (#45).
