Motorcyclist dies in 3-vehicle crash on I-95 in Maryland

CALVERTON, Md. (WJLA) -A motorcyclist is dead following a multiple-vehicle crash on Interstate 95 in Prince George's County on Saturday evening.

Authorities haven't yet released the crash victim's name.

The three-vehicle crash happened just before 7 p.m. on Saturday in the southbound lane of I-95 near Powder Mill Road.

The preliminary investigation indicates that a 2003 Suzuki GSX-R 600 motorcycle was speeding southbound on I-95 when it{ } struck a Volkswagen traveling in the same direction, Maryland State Police said.{ }

The motorcyclist lost control and was ejected from the bike, landing in the middle of the highway where he was struck by a tractor trailer also traveling south, investigators said.

The crash closed some lanes of the interstate for several hours.{ }
