Firefighters battled two fires in Prince George's County Monday morning, one of which left nine residents displaced.
At 4:40 a.m., Flames broke out inside a barbershop, located at a strip shopping center in the 7900 Johnson Avenue in the Glenarden community. The fire was quickly extinguished and no injuries were reported. No damage was caused to any neighboring businesses.
Fire investigators are still investigating the cause of this fire. Fire loss is estimated at $50,000.
Minutes later, at 4:41 a.m., firefighters were called to another fire on the second floors of a three-story apartment building in Oxon Hill. It took about 10 to 15 minutes to knock down the blaze that damage four units, leaving eight adults and one child displaced. No one was injured.
The Department's Citizen Services Unit is assisting the residents.
The cause of this fire was determined to be an unattended candle. The total loss is estimated at $75,000.
