A man who may have been involved in a domestic incident late Sunday night was shot by a Montgomery County Police officer, authorities say.
The shooting happened at about 10 p.m Sunday while investigators were looking into claims of a domestic incident. A car believed to be connected was spotted and stopped, and when police arrived, they say they found a shotgun in the car.
An unknown series of events then led the officer to fire his weapon, striking the suspect. It's not known whether or not the suspect fired at the officer.
The suspect then fled the scene and crashed into a car on Quince Orchard Road and Great Seneca Highway.
He was taken into custody and transported to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The person hit in the crash was not injured.
The involved officer, a 19-year veteran of the department, has been placed on paid, administrative leave pending the outcome of this investigation.
