The 21-year-old man who was killed Friday in a fatal shooting in White Oak, has been identified by police as Jesse Patrick Campos.
Campos was shot and died in his own apartment in the 11400 block of July Drive in the White Oak area of Silver Spring at about 3:45 p.m. Friday.
Witnesses tell police two men accosted a roommate outside the apartment, forced him to let them in, and then shot Campos and fled.
The male roommate and an adult female in the apartment were not injured, police say.
Neighbors at the Yorkshire Apartments are still reeling from the Friday afternoon shooting that left Campos dead and the complex on lockdown.
"It's kind of scary...have my family here and stuff. It's just that close to me. It's really crazy," resident Todd Mealy said.
Neighbors suspect the crime was a botched robbery, but police aren't commenting on a motive.
Montgomery County Police Captain Paul Starks adds, "It's possible this was not a random event."
