A water rescue came to a tragic end in Washington Grove, Maryland on Saturday evening.

Police were called to Maple Lake around 5:08 p.m. after a ground's keeper found someone's personal possessions nearby, police say.

Crews spent all evening searching and recovered a body in the water at around 10:00 p.m. Montgomery County Fire and Rescue, Howard County Fire and Rescue, the Montgomery County Police Managed Search Operations Team, and Gaithersburg City Police all helped with the search.

The lake and park are private property, and the teen whose body was found was not a resident of the area.

The Medical Examiner’s Office in Baltimore are working to determine the cause of the teen's death and to confirm his identity.

Police believe the body may be that of a missing teen, who recently graduated from Gaithersburg Middle School.

Police say they do not suspect foul play in the death.

Authorities are asking anyone with information on the death to call police at 240-773-5070.
