Metrobus crash leaves 15 injured in Southeast D.C.

Fifteen people were injured Saturday afternoon when a Metrobus and a minivan collided in Southeast D.C. Two of the patients are listed as having incurred serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

The A9 Metrobus was traveling southbound in the 2700 block of Martin Luther King Jr Ave. SE at approximately 1:30 p.m. when it "made contact with" a Dodge minivan, WMATA spokesperson Caroline Lucas says.

D.C. police cited the driver of the minivan with "improper lane change," Lucas says.

D.C. Fire/EMS spokesperson Lon Walls says a total of 15 patients were taken to hospitals. Six were transported by three ambulances, with two in each ambulance. Nine were transported by a mass casualty bus. All but two had minor injuries.
