Md. mother boldly follows man who attempted to kidnap her young daughter

GLEN BURNIE, Md. (WJLA) - Anne Arundel County police have arrested a man for attempting to kidnap a 12-year-old girl in Glen Burnie Thursday afternoon.

The young girl told police and her mother that she had been walking home from Woodside Elementary School when a white male driving a silver truck stopped and asked her three times if she needed a ride.

The girl said she ignored the man and just kept walking, northbound on Oakwood Road. The man drove away.

A few moments later, though, the girl said he returned, drove past her, and parked his truck in front of her. She said he got out of the vehicle and walked toward her quickly with his arms extended.

The girl said she was afraid he was going to grab her, so she ran in the direction of home and found her mother, and told her what happened.

Police said the woman and her daughter then got in their own vehicle and drove around the area, searching for the man. They soon spotted his silver truck in the area of Crain Highway and Hospital Drive. They waited, and then followed the man as he drove to his home, in the 1000 block of Cayer Drive.

The mother then called police, who responded to the home on Cayer Drive.

Police said after interviewing all three parties, they saw reason to arrest the man.

The suspect, identified as Tristien Owen Willey, 24, has been charged with attempted kidnapping and second-degree assault.
