Mayor Vincent Gray excused from jury duty

WASHINGTON (AP) - District of Columbia Mayor Vincent Gray is finished with jury duty service.

A spokesman for the mayor says he was excused Monday from jury duty at D.C. Superior Court after going through a questioning process before trial. Former D.C. Mayor Adrian Fenty reported for jury duty in January but was dismissed from the pool.

About 1,000 city residents serve jury duty at D.C. Superior Court each week. Prospective jurors in Washington get $4 a day for travel costs. If selected, they get $30 a day for their service if they are not paid by their employer.
