(WJLA) - A water main burst in the 4800 block of Massachusetts Avenue Friday morning, sending thousands of gallons onto the road.
By mid-morning, the main hadn't been shut off. And with temperatures hovering in the low 30s, the street was an ice rink. Fearing accidents, D.C. police shutdown a half block to traffic.
After several hours, D.C. water crews arrived. It took two men to shutdown the main.
Officials say the prolonged cold snap is likely the cause.
