Maryland Task Force 1 deployed to Puerto Rico for hurricane recovery

Maryland Task Force 1 left for Puerto Rico on Friday to assist with recovery efforts after the arrival of Hurricane Maria caused major damage.

Maria slammed Puerto Rico a few days ago damaging homes and flooding towns. Millions of people will be without electricity for several weeks.

Urban Search and Rescue crews left staging areas at Dover Air Force base Friday night.

The Virgin Islands and Caribbean were damaged by Hurricane Irma two weeks ago causing several deaths, according to the Associated Press.
