Marion Barry doesn't have a reputation for being the most culturally sensitive politicians in D.C. But that soon may change.
Barry says he now wants to officiate a same-sex marriage despite voting against gay marriage in 2009, Washington City Paper reports.
On Monday, members of the D.C. council were granted the authority to officiate weddings, including same-sex couples.
"I'm in the process of finding a gay couple," Barry told City Paper.
In April 2012, Barry made offensive remarks toward Asians in the District, saying Asian-owned shops were dirty. While apologizing, he further offended Polish people by using a slur in referring to them.
