Marion Barry talks about firefighter complaints
Washington D.C. Councilman Marion Barry said Wednesday that he thinks every D.C. firefighter should live in D.C. and says that too much concern is being placed on proposed changes to firefighter shifts.
Appearing on Newstalk with Bruce DePuyt on NewsChannel 8, Barry also said that complaints about equipment are a “distraction” from firefighters being unhappy with the shift change proposals.
“If they don't want to work different days and get more productivity out of them, for what they're getting paid,” said Barry. “They're well paid, no question, among the best paid firefighters in the country."
The former mayor is set to give his state of the ward address Thursday evening at Matthews Memorial Baptist Church on Martin Luther King Avenue at 6:30 p.m.
