Several events will lead to street closures and parking restrictions in the District this weekend.
Susan G. Komen Global Race for the Cure
On Saturday, June 4, the Susan G. Komen 2011 Race for the Cure will take place in Washington, DC. The race will begin to form on the National Mall at approximately 7:00 a.m. and go until about 11:30 a.m. around the northern side of the Mall (see map).
Participants can look up directions on the race site. The Metro will be open at 5 a.m. on Saturday.
2011 Washington Post Hunt
On Sunday, June 5th, 2011, the Washington Post Hunt will take place at Freedom Plaza. Pennsylvania Avenue, NW will be closed between from 13th to 14th Streets, NW, from 6:30 a.m. for approximately 12 hours, until 6:30 p.m.
Ford Theater Annual Gala
10th Street will be closed between E Street and F Street, NW beginning on Sunday at 10:00 a.m. until approximately 10:00 p.m.
All street closures and listed times are subject to change based upon prevailing or unexpected conditions.
Metro's open early, but some trips will take longer
Metro will open two hours early at 5 a.m. on Saturday to accommodate participants and spectators for the Susan G. Komen Global Race for the Cure. However, track maintenance is going on along the Blue and Red lines, which means customers using these lines should add 30 minutes to their travel schedule, according to Metro.
