(WJLA) - Two suspects are in custody after they were caught fleeing from the scene of a shooting in a Northwest Washington neighborhood.
MPD officials say that they responded to a shooting on M Street Northwest at about 10:20 p.m. Saturday, near the city's Sursum Corda neighborhood, where they found a juvenile suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
When officers got to the scene, they found a van, later determined to be stolen, fleeing the 200 block of New York Avenue NW. After a short chase that ended in the 1100 block of First Place NW, the two suspects got out of the car and fled on foot. They were quickly apprehended.
The victim was taken to a nearby hospital with injuries not considered to be life threatening. The driver of the fleeing car has been charged with assault on a police officer, felony fleeing and reckless driving, among other charges.
It's not known whether or not they're connected to the shooting. The fleeing van's passenger was only charged with unauthorized use of a vehicle.
