Man punches officers in head, bites 1 on arm during arrest in Maryland, police say
FREDERICK, Md. (ABC7) —
A man punched two officers in the head and bit one of them on the arm during an arrest on Aug. 8 in Frederick, Maryland.
Reidel Marcelo Martinez-Garcia was charged with two counts of second-degree assault, resisting arrest and attempting to disarm a law enforcement officer, according to Frederick Police.
Both officers and Martinez-Garcia sustained minor injuries in the incident, which occurred in the 1200 block of W. Patrick Street.
Police say officers were questioning two "suspicious men" when Martinez-Garcia provided a fake name and ran away. When officers caught up to him, Martinez-Garcia kicked one of them in the chest.
During the attack, Martinez-Garcia took one of the officers holstered guns and tried to remove it to use it, according to police.
When officers restrained and handcuffed Martinez-Garcia, police say he still resisted and attempted to kick the officers.
