Hyattsville man dies after being struck by two cars in Takoma Park

Takoma Park, Md. (WJLA)-One person is dead after being struck by two cars early Sunday morning in Takoma Park.

The deceased is identified as 32-year-old Walter Franco-Chinchilla of the 7700 block of Chillum Road in Hyattsville

The incident happened just after midnight Sunday when the victim stepped into traffic and was struck by a car traveling north on the 6700 block of New Hampshire Avenue, Prince George's County Police said.

Moments later, the victim was struck by a second vehicle also traveling north on the roadway.{ }

A preliminary investigation indicates that Franco-Chinchilla wasn't inside the crosswalk when he attempted to cross the roadway.

Both drivers remained on the scene and are assisting police with their investigation.
