      Suspect in Capitol Hill standoff surrenders to police

      WASHINGTON (WJLA) - A 25-year-old man was taken into custody Wednesday morning after a standoff with police on Capitol Hill that lasted all night.

      MPD officials say the situation began just before 10:30 p.m. Tuesday, when officers attempted to serve a warrant on a suspect at his home near East Capitol and 13th streets Southeast.

      A woman who was inside the home when authorities arrived, and while she was allowed to leave, the man remained holed up inside.

      At about 8:30 a.m., though, the man, whom the Washington Post identify as 25-year-old David Robertson, surrendered peacefully.

      Robertson was wanted on charges of assaulting a police officer.
