Loudoun panhandling ban questioned by fire, non-profit

The Loudoun County Board of Supervisors last week banned panhandling – but at least two groups questioned the decision

Muscular Dystrophy Association and local firefighters organizations asked the board to reconsider the permitting process because the organizations often request funds during roadside campaigns, according to the Leesburg Patch.

Citing safety concerns, representatives of the county stated they didn’t want fire officials soliciting fund either.

"The safety issue has been with fire and rescue, because I’ve seen it,” Scott K. York, board chairman, told Patch.
