A Loudoun County teenager was sentenced Wednesday for an animal cruelty conviction in the death of his family dog.
Police say the dog, an 8-pound toy breed, was repeatedly kicked by the boy, 13, and his younger brother. The dog died of internal injuries.
The teen was sentenced to one year of supervised probation and is prohibited from living with companion animals during that time. He may also have no interaction with any children his age or younger during his probation.
The teen's younger brother was assigned counseling.
