Maryland State Police have released 911 tapes of calls from concerned and terrified drivers after a woman drove westbound on eastbound US Rt. 50 in Anne Arundel County Wednesday afternoon, killing herself and another driver.

One caller says the driver of a vehicle, later identified as 22-year-old Laura Ashley Murphy, was driving the wrong way near Exit 29A and was dodging on-coming traffic.

Another caller says a black SUV was "coming head-on down all three lanes" and was driving "totally out of control."

Listen to a few of the calls in the video below:

Murphy was pronounced dead at the scene. Police say she was driving a black 2017 Volkswagen Tiguan.

About two-and-a-half hours after the crash, rescuers extricated the trapped driver of a 2016 silver Mercedes SUV, 66-year-old Robert Skidmore, who was hit head-on by Murphy's vehicle. He was flown to a nearby hospital by a police helicopter.

Authorities reported Skidmore was pronounced dead at the hospital Wednesday night.

Murphy's 14-month-old son was also traveling in the SUV with her during the time of the collision. He was flown to a trauma center in serious condition.

A third vehicle driven by Anthony Stanley, 59, of Bowie, was also involved in the crash and his car is possibly totaled. Stanley was uninjured, police say.
