Linwood Barnhill Jr., D.C. officer accused in prostitution ring, due in court
WASHINGTON (AP/WJLA) - The hearing for a District of Columbia police officer charged with running a prostitution ring involving teenage girls has been continued to next week.
Officer Linwood Barnhill Jr. was scheduled to appear Friday morning in D.C. Superior Court. He was ordered detained at his first court appearance this week.
That hearing was continued to Dec. 18.
Barnhill was arrested Wednesday, one week after police found a missing 16-year-old girl in his apartment. The girl told police Barnhill had offered to arrange paid sex acts for her with other men, and that she had met other women at the apartment who said they worked as prostitutes for him.
Another police officer, Marc Washington, was arrested last week on child pornography charges. His body was pulled Tuesday night from the Washington Channel, and he later died. Police haven't said how.
