WASHINGTON (AP) Former Prince George's County Councilwoman Leslie Johnson is seeking a delay of her scheduled sentencing hearing next week.
Leslie Johnson pleaded guilty in June to destroying evidence in a federal corruption probe that also ensnared her husband, former County Executive Jack Johnson. She is scheduled to be sentenced on Oct. 13.
The Washington Post reports Johnson's attorney, Shawn Wright, filed a motion in federal court in Greenbelt on Monday seeking the delay "in light of scheduling conflicts that have recently come about."
Wright wrote that she had discussed the motion with the government's lead prosecutor, and that he does not oppose the request.
