A mother planned to deliver her baby Monday morning like most others, in a hospital, but sometimes babies just don't wait. Instead, her baby was delivered on the Dulles Toll Road in Reston.
Sarah and Jean-Paul Bergeaux of Leesburg pulled over on their way to Reston Hospital Center and delivered their baby girl around 7 a.m. Firefighters arrived minutes later.
"It's been a little bit of a crazy morning," says Sarah.
Noelle Bergeaux arrived three weeks before her expected arrival.
"Between 6:30 a.m. and 6:40 a.m., it went from 'I'm having contractions' to 'I'm ready to have a baby!'" says Jean-Paul.
"Even when we were leaving for the hospital I still didn't think I'd have a baby in the car," says Sarah.
But she did, as her daughter apparently couldn't wait for her close-up.
"Definitely surprised, but a good surprise. We're thrilled that she's here and very blessed to have a healthy little girl and we're both doing well," says Sarah.
Mom, Dad and baby Noelle are all doing fine and already joking about who actually gets credit for the delivery. And that's an argument that's guaranteed to be debated for a lifetime.
