Darnestown house fire displaces six, causes $1.5 million in damages
DARNESTOWN, Md. (WJLA) - A house fire in Darnestown displaced a family of six on Thursday night and caused $1.5 million in damages.
According to the Montgomery County Fire Department, units responded to a call about a fire at a large single family home on Rollinmeade Drive around 10:39 p.m. Thursday. Upon arriving on scene, firefighters encountered heavy fire and immediately tried to get the fire under control.
Additional units were called in to assist in putting out the fire after a second alarm was called in, leaving between 70-75 firefighters on scene.
All of the home's occupants were evacuated without injury. Additionally, the occupants in the home next door were also evacuated as a precaution after radiant heat from the fire began to damage the home.
The fire is currently under investigation.
