A woman requesting to be released on bond from shoplifting charges so she could get an abortion had that request denied by a Stafford County judge on Thursday.
Twenty eight-year-old Kristy Lechelle Cokley's request was denied by circuit court judge J. Howe Brown, according to a report in the Fredericksburg Free Lance-Star. Brown did say that Cokley could re-petition the court once she had gathered more details regarding where the procedure would be performed and when it would happen.
Cokley was arrested Aug. 29 on charges that she stole more than $500 from a Stafford County T.J. Maxx. She had previously been arrested, and released on bond, in Spotsylvania County for manufacturing illegal drugs, possession of a firearm while in possession of illegal drugs and possessing a firearm as a felon.
