A 17-year-old teen who pleaded guilty to shooting two people at the Rockville Metro station was sentenced to 25 years behind bars on Wednesday, WTOP reports.
Kevin Nguyen pleaded guilty to attempted second-degree murder and use of a handgun in the commission of a crime charges. He is accused of shooting a 16-year-old and a bystander on May 18, 2012.
"This sentence sends a strong message that gun violence will not be tolerated in our community. If you belong to a gang and shoot a rival or anyone for that matter or provide the weapon, police will find you and we will put you behind bars," said John McCarthy, Montgomery County state's attorney.
An accomplice, Tavares Harris, was convicted of first degree assault last December.
