D.C. Fire Chief Kenneth Ellerbe will not face charges after a firefighter accused him of simple assault last month.
When a D.C. ambulance erupted in flames while on call in late August, images quickly hit social media. Sources say Ellerbe was so furious about the embarrassing photos that soon after arriving on scene, he forced a firefighter to hand over his phone.
The firefighter filed a charge against Ellerbe, alleging his wrist was injured when the fire chief grabbed his phone from his hand.
Ellerbe insisted he did nothing wrong.
The U.S. Attorney's Office reviewed the case and determined that there is not enough evidence to charge Ellerbe.
