(WJLA) - Construction on a new bridge in a portion of Rock Creek Park will close an east-west artery in Upper Northwest for up to half a year.

DDOT officials say that starting Tuesday morning, the Kalmia Road Culvert between East and West Beach Drive NW will close for about six months.

During the closure, work will be done on the deteriorating culvert, replacing it with a new bridge. Pedestrian access to the area will not be impacted.
