ANNE ARUNDEL, Md. (WJLA) – The Anne Arundel County School Board will hear arguments Wednesday over the suspension of a Park Elementary School student who chewed a breakfast pastry into the shape of a gun.

Josh Welch, who was a second-grader at the time of the incident, was suspended in March 2013. Despite protests from Welch's parents, the school board upheld his suspension.

The hearing, which is open to the public, is scheduled for 1 p.m.
