A former D.C. corrections officer accused of smuggling drugs into the D.C. jail for inmates has pleaded guilty Friday.
Jonathan Womble, 36, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit bribery.
Authorities say he brought drugs and other contraband into the jail for $400.
According to a court document, a handler for the jail's K-9 unit entered the men's locker room on Tuesday to use the bathroom and had his drug-detection dog with him. The dog signaled that there were drugs in Womble's locker. A second dog later confirmed the presence of drugs, and officials opened Womble's locker.
Womble has worked at the facility since 2008.
