GREENBELT, Md. (WJLA) -- A motorcyclist was seriously hurt after colliding late Monday afternoon with a tractor-trailer rig along the Inner Loop of the Beltway in Prince George's County, authorities said.

The crash happened right before the exit for Route 450, the Baltimore-Washington Parkway.

All southbound lanes were closed for more than an hour, causing a traffic backup of more than 14 miles during the evening rush hour.

The motorcyclist was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries, fire officials said.
