Inmate found dead, second apparent suicide in two weeks in D.C. jail
An inmate was found dead, hanging in his cell in the D.C. jail Saturday, The Washington Post reports. It was the second apparent suicide in the jail in less than two weeks.
Walter Calloway, 42, of Southeast, had been charged with child sex abuse, the Post reports.
On June 18, Paul Mannina, the Department of Labor attorney accused of sexually assaulting and attacking a colleague in her Northwest D.C. home, killed himself inside a D.C. jail cell.
Two law enforcement sources told the Post that Mannina slashed himself in the neck with a likely jail-issued razor blade in the early morning hours of June 18. He had appeared in court a day earlier in connection with the June 5 brutal attack on a woman who also worked for the Department of Labor.
