I-95 hit-and-run leaves one dead

Virginia State Police have charged a 19-year-old woman in connection with a fatal Saturday morning hit-and-run on I-95 northbound.

Police say the victim pulled onto the right shoulder of the interstate at mile marker 162 in Fairfax County just before midnight. While{ }he was standing next to his vehicle, he was struck by a Hyundai Santa Fe SUV.

The driver of the SUV left the scene, investigators say.

The man died at the scene.

Police later found the vehicle suspected in the hit-and-run in Prince George's County, Maryland. Virginia State police say Carol Rood-Johnson of Woodbridge is charged with DUI. Investigators say additional charges are pending.

The victim's body was sent to the Medical Examiner for positive identification.
