Hurricane Irene: 267 tons of tree debris cleared from D.C. streets

WASHINGTON (AP) - Cleanup crews in Washington have removed more than 267 tons of debris from the city's streets after Hurricane Irene.

The District of Columbia Department of Public Works says 12 tractor-trailer loads of tree debris were cleared between Sunday and Monday.

Officials say they have deployed more than 200 people to chop up downed trees and tree limbs and clear away leaves.
