Hundreds of cats, dogs in need of forever homes after being rescued from Puerto Rico

Hundreds of cats, dogs in need of forever homes after being rescued from Puerto Rico (Jay Korff/ABC7)

A plane full of adorable cats and dogs landed at the Manassas Regional Airport Tuesday night after they were rescued from Puerto Rico in the wake of Hurricane Maria.

Now, they're all looking for "fur-ever" homes.

About 110 dogs and 13 cats, who were in shelters on the island prior to being transported to Virginia, where moved to create space for animals on Puerto Rico who may be in need of shelter following the catastrophic storm.

After processing, the animals are going to be taken to a number of shelters and humane societies across the D.C. region and put up for adoption.

If you are interested in adopting any of these awesome animals, you can visit the below locations:

  • Lost Dog and Cat Rescue Foundation, Arlington, Va.
  • Portsmouth Humane Society, Portsmouth, Va.
  • Tri County Animal Shelter, Hughesville, Md.
  • Loudoun County Animal Services, Waterford, Va.
  • Richmond SPCA, Richmond, Va.
  • Peninsula SPCA, Newport News, Va.
  • Washington County Humane Society in Hagerstown, Md.
  • Humane Rescue Alliance, Washington, D.C.
