David Jamal Wilson arrested, accused in death of Howard Venable
A Northwest Washington man has been arrested and charged in the weekend murder of a 68-year-old man, MPD officials say.
David Jamal Wilson, 21, is facing first-degree murder charges in the death of Howard Venable, Jr., a D.C. man who was killed inside his home Saturday evening. Wilson was arraigned in court Monday.
Officials say Venable was found stabbed to death inside the home he shared with Wilson, located in the 1600 block of Fuller Street NW.
Police say they have pictures of Wilson using the victim's ATM card after his death, withdrawing more than $600.
Lieutenant Robert Alder, of MPD's Homicide Division, said, "At this time, we believe the motive is robbery...to the best of our knowledge they are not related...we are still in the process of investigating exactly what the nature is of their relationship."
In court Monday, Wilson's lawyer said Wilson has three children and lives with his wife. He claims Venable fell on the knife. But the prosecutor said Venable suffered multiple stab wounds.
The judge ordered Wilson be held without bond, because he changed his story four times during police interrogation.
