Howard University to cut staff positions

Howard University is cutting about 75 staff positions, The Washington Post reports.

ABC7 reported last week that Howard, one of the nation’s top historically black colleges, is in trouble due to fiscal and management issues.

Renee Higginbotham-Brooks, a Howard alum and the vice chairwoman of the university's board of trustees, wrote in an April letter that “Howard will not be here in three years if we don’t make some crucial decisions now."

None of the jobs to be cut are faculty positions, the Post says. The university did not say which positions were cut or what the savings would be. Other cuts will come over a period of months.
