A Howard County Police helicopter suffered major damage when it was forced to make an emergency landing late Thursday night on a high school football field.
Authorities say that four Howard County officers were on board the helicopter when it experienced mechanical difficulties just after 11 p.m. Thursday. The pilot was then able to make a hard landing on the football field at Wilde Lake High School.
The emergency landing caused significant damage to the helicopter's tail.
No one on board, including a Howard County pilot, tactical flight officer, flight officer in training and an Anne Arundel County tactical flight officer, was injured.
An investigation into the cause of the mechanical failure continues. There were no prior issues with the chopper, Howard County officials say.
