(WJLA) - The latest casualty of the government shutdown is a concert that was scheduled to celebrate the United States Navy's birthday.
The U.S. Navy Band was scheduled to perform at Strathmore on Oct. 9, but due to the federal shutdown, officials say they were forced to call the concert off.
"We are very disappointed to cancel this concert, but we will continue to find ways to support and celebrate our great Navy," Navy Band Commanding Officer Capt. Brian Walden said in a statement posted to the band's Facebook page.
There is no word as to whehter or not the concert would be rescheduled.
