Navy Yard Shooting: Capitol Police response report delayed
WASHINGTON (AP) - A report into the response by the U.S. Capitol Police to the Washington Navy Yard shooting has been delayed by the federal government shutdown.
The report was to have been completed by Monday, but officials said Friday that the government shutdown has caused a delay and that the investigation is continuing.
The Capitol Police Board is reviewing the response to the Sept. 16 shooting, which left 13 dead, including the gunman, Aaron Alexis.
At the center of the investigation are reports that one of the force's tactical response teams arrived within minutes of the shootings and were told by a Capitol Police watch commander to stand down.
