WASHINGTON (AP) - A Washington architecture firm is building a huge gingerbread city downtown, and it will be on view to the public this week.

The "Gingertown" creation will be on view Tuesday through Friday in the lobby of the Washington Square building at 1050 Connecticut Ave. near L Street. This year's theme is "Elf Vegas."

David M. Schwarz Architects created the "Gingertown" project six years ago. It involves hundreds of pounds of sweet building materials, including jelly beans, icing, sprinkles and gumdrops.

After it is displayed this week, individual structures from the gingerbread city will be donated with cash contributions to Washington-area charities.

The firm is also creating "Gingertown" displays this year in Dallas and Nashville.
