Yohannes Deresse charged with stabbing car service customers

WASHINGTON (AP) - A private car driver has been charged with knifing two riders during a fight near the Georgetown waterfront.

The Washington Post reports that charging documents filed in D.C. Superior Court state four people got into a Lincoln Town car, but decided to leave because Yohannes Deresse's "aggressive manner" made them uncomfortable.

Documents state Deresse and a passenger fought and Deresse stabbed the man in the chest and arm. A second man was cut when he tried to intervene.

The victim and Deresse were taken to a hospital, where Deresse was treated and released. Deresse is charged with two counts of assault with a dangerous weapon.

Deresse was released and ordered to have no contact with the alleged victim. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Sept. 25.
