Gene Gillette, Mount Rainier officer in shooting case, to be sentenced
MOUNT RANIER, Md. (AP) - A Mount Rainier police officer who pleaded guilty to attempted murder, sex and gun charges in connection with an incident at his home is set to be sentenced.
Gene Gillette will be sentenced Wednesday by a judge in Prince George's County.
Prosecutors have said that Gillette lured a 20-year-old man to his Capitol Heights home in July 2011 and made sexual advances toward him.
When the man tried to flee in Gillette's truck, Gillette fired shots at him.
Gillette pleaded guilty in 2011 to attempted murder, attempted sex offense and use of a handgun in the incident.
