WASHINGTON (AP) - A non-profit community health center in the District of Columbia is offering free HIV testing for much of the next week.
Whitman-Walker Health is observing on Wednesday the 17th annual National HIV Testing Day. Free testing will be offered at the Max Robinson Center, the Elizabeth Taylor Medical Center and at 1 Judiciary Square.
Expanded testing will also be done at multiple locations through Monday.
Raymond Martins, chief medical officer at Whitman-Walker, says National HIV Testing Day is a reminder to the public on the importance of getting tested. A report from the DC Department of Health said that more than 3 percent of adults in the city have been diagnosed with HIV.
